Speakap is designed to make the lives of admins and users easier. Our integrations functionality allows you to make third-party applications available to users through Speakap's Custom Menu.
The Custom Menu gives you more control over what items will show on your network's main menu and in what order.
Ordering menu items
There are some default menu items on the main menu, but you can always add new ones from the Speakap Market.
At first, the new item will show at the bottom of the main menu, which might not be desirable.
Here is how to reorder the menu items to your liking:
- Go to the Network settings.
- Select the Appearance section from the main menu.
- Select the Menu tab from the Appearance section.
- Drag and drop the menu items to your desired order.
- Save your changes.
Three menu items are locked in their original position: Timeline, Private Messages, and News. We have locked these items as we're convinced these are essential elements for your network's success.
Any change you make to your menu items' order will become visible to users only once you save your changes.
Adding custom menu items
It's possible to add custom menu items in the main menu next to everything else.
Adding a custom item
To add a custom menu item to your network, go to Network Settings > Menu > Add menu item.
From there, you can configure your custom menu item.
When creating a new custom menu item, you will be asked to add the following (required) details:
Every item on the menu has its own distinct icon. This icon helps users easily recognize the item they're looking for. We advise you to pick an icon that symbolizes the function of your custom menu item.
The name of your custom item will show next to the icon on the menu. Make sure to add a descriptive name to your menu item.
The maximum length for the name is 24 characters to ensure it’s visible by everyone across devices.
Add the URL that will open when your employees click on the custom menu item.
When on mobile, the URL will open on your device's default browser. When on a PC, the URL will open in a new browser tab.
To open the URL within the application, check the "Open within the platform" checkbox.
Not every URL can be loaded within the Speakap application due to some privacy and technical reasons. That means that some of the URLs you add to your custom menu item won't show as expected. If that happens, we advise you to uncheck the "Open within the platform" checkbox.
Editing custom items
To change your custom menu item's icon, you can always edit all your custom menu items' details. Click on the kebab menu icon (the three vertical dots) and press the Edit button.
Removing custom items
If you no longer need to have one of your custom menu items available, you can remove it from the menu. Click on the kebab menu icon (the three vertical dots) and press the Remove button
Any change you make to your menu items will become visible to users only once you save your changes.
